Drawing Studio

The Drawing Area curriculum provides a balance between formal skill building techniques and the development of personal themes within the context of contemporary art practice.

The two 2000-level courses together provide a challenging spectrum of conceptual and technical approaches, and are the gateway to third year courses. At third year the drawing curriculum diversifies, allowing students to pursue specialized courses such as 3082 Drawing Writ Large, which treats drawing as an interdisciplinary practice. The core 3000-level course is 3080 Drawing. Fourth year curriculum rotates from year to year between a core and a specialized drawing course, such as 4090 The Plural Hand.

The Drawing area offers studio, storage and presentation space with excellent natural light conditions. The area includes two complementary spaces: an area for projects completed on the drafting tables; and a flexible space for large-scale projects and collaborations.
